About Canopy Web Design

Canopy Web Design is in fact a one-woman-band operation. I’m Cathy Ross, owner of Canopy Web Design, and I do it all — designing and coding of websites, copywriting and press releases, Search Engine Optimization, etc.

Canopy Web Design came about because I wanted to provide the skills I had learned and honed as a web designer and web application manager in Silicon Valley to clients of my own. As a military spouse, I needed a flexible occupation — forming my own company that moves with me around the country has allowed me to continue my career.

A little bit about me: I received my Bachelors from Stanford University, where I first studied computer programming. I then spent several years in Silicon Valley and Los Angeles working for both small internet start-ups and a Fortune 500 software corporation as a web designer, web application manager, consultant and trainer. I also worked as a reporter in San Francisco, giving me a strong writing background that lends itself to website copywriting/editing, and news release composition. Additionally, I am a veteran, having served a year-long tour in Iraq as a Civil Affairs Sergeant in the US Army Reserves.

I just recently re-located to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and am thrilled to be here! I now have clients from coast-to-coast, all of whom I still support in terms of ongoing maintenance. I’m excited to be in Colorado, a place of natural beauty that I find incredibly inspiring.
